Our client is a a newly formed European oil and gas exploration and production company operating in 4 different countries. They are looking to recruit a Production Optimisation Lead to join their team based in Aberdeen.

Purpose Statement

* The span of control of the position covers all company's operated assets in the EAST IRISH SEA including assets owned by others but operated by company. South Morecambe, North Morecambe, Rhyl, Calder and BRIS.
* This position is to ensure that all production and process is optimised in both the short and the medium term in all company's EAST IRISH SEA operated assets.
* As such the position maintains the choke models for each of the individual choke owners for each asset on behalf of the Asset Manager for the operated assets and collates the data for the non-operated assets.
* A key activity is to ensure that each function is mitigating their losses and action their opportunities in a timely fashion on behalf of the OSOM, OSOM, OSM managers.
* A key part of this role is managing a collaborative environment linking offshore and onshore. Being the decision maker in the room on day to day optimisation activities.
* The position will also ensure compliance with all company's production standards, providing assistance and governance in the Asset as appropriate.
* This role will have a significant impact in the Morecambe Hub, helping to ensure that the organisation is structured to optimise operations, process and hydrocarbon delivery with appropriate processes, procedures, and competencies to match.
* The position also has the opportunity to help develop the skill and competencies of the wider team


* Key Accountability is for Setting and delivering the Hydrocarbon Optimisation Strategy for the EAST IRISH SEA and as a consequence individual assets
* The ideal candidate will be able to challenge the delivery of technical and support services - the choke owners’ delivery of opportunities and the asset owners in terms of loss mitigation in the context of Operated Business Unit priorities in the service of value optimisation.
* As such the jobholder gives direction and advice on production operations delivery, together with appropriate challenge of all relevant disciplines to ensure effective delivery of production optimisation.
* The incumbent should identify real and potential weaknesses and /or gaps which prevent compliance with minimum standards and so the delivery of optimum performance across the EAST IRISH SEA
* Introduce measures to resolve problems, together with implementing and monitoring action plans, with named action owners, to recover lost production and deliver opportunities.
* The incumbent must also ensure that Asset Management Team is kept informed of risks to production, well and/or process integrity
* Maximum Production Potential Definition, Choke Model & input into Production Forecasting (Short and Medium)
* Optimisation of the Activity Planning
* Monitoring delivery & performance of production plan
* Choke Optimisation & Optimisation Modeling
* Well (& Asset) Integrity monitoring
* Production Loss Accounting
* Data Acquisition
* Data Validation, Allocation & Reconciliation
* Production Analysis & Reporting
* Management of Production Risks and Opportunities
* Production Optimisation Team Leadership (meeting leadership)
* Business Plan in-put (annual +90 day plan)
* Metering and data flow assurance

* A highly competent team leader and to be able to communicate to all levels of the Asset.
* Be quick to adapt new and innovative ideas, with a challenging and probing mindset.
* The ability to influence others without necessarily having line management authority. The relationship with the choke owners and the service delivery groups is key
* Knowing when to invoke senior management authority and when to make a consensus based decision
* Should be self-motivated and tenacious, needs to identify gaps and take action through to implementation i.e. when something is done not when people say it has been done.
* An understanding of the appropriate behaviours within the production management framework and the ability to “call” people on them if they are poor and/or inappropriate
* User of production reporting and allocation packages (e.g. Pi, Process net).
* Strong communication / presentation/ writing skills.
* Good commercial awareness/understanding project financing/cost control principles.
* Proven ability to undertake complex tasks requiring the application of well-developed technical skills and knowledge with limited supervision.
* Proven leadership-builder with the ability to work effectively in multi-disciplinary teams.
* Highly developed analytical and problem solving skills.
* Naturally curious.


* Educated to Degree level

Work Experience

* Experience in optimisation of both onshore and offshore facilities is required, preferably with a subsurface background.
* A clear understanding of day to day optimisation of facilities, wells and commercial constructs is key
* This should be underpinned by a deep understanding of production loss accounting and production allocation
* Any prior knowledge of project delivery, well engineering, logistics and other key functions would also benefit the position.
* Experience in production planning, forecasting, opportunity and loss management would be an asset.
* Demonstrable commercial awareness and understanding of project financing/cost control principles
* Proven Project Management skills
* Travel Requirements

Business travel as required to Barrow terminal and offshore EAST IRISH SEA
