Our client is specialising in manufacturing high performance valves. They are looking to recruit Design Engineer on a contract basis reporting to Chief Executive Officer.


• To perform product development and design improvements to valve products.
• To liaise with all client's staff to ensure the seamless manufacture and production of the range of company products.
• To maintain all the engineering documentation for the company and client products and processes.
• To assist, where necessary, the factory or suppliers providing an effective and efficient flow of high quality product to the end customer.
• To liaise with the customer base of the Company and effectively communicate with them on a regular basis, answering any queries that arise in a timeous manner. To build relationships with all key customers on the phone and where necessary in person.
• To actively participate in ongoing up-keep of ISO 9001/14001/18001 quality management system.
• To look at innovation of products with management and take new product offerings from idea to fruition by active participation in all R&D developments
• To help arrange, manage, and minute all engineering meetings including design review meetings
• To interface with outside vendors for component selection, manufacturing, and assembly.
• Confer with internal/external production personnel and management to implement operating procedures, resolve product malfunctions, and provide technical information.

To ensure all duties are carried out in line with company procedures


• Modify/improve designs following company processes (ahead of manufacture or installation).
• Work with engineering team to turn ideas into technical drawings for prototypes using computer-aided design (CAD) and computer-assisted engineering (CAE) software
• Adhere to the company’s policies and procedures.
• Create/update/improve designs, fabrication drawing and product QC packages, and delivery documentation (manuals and interface drawings), schedule and test plans for company products
• Ensure all product-related quality control procedures and processes are followed
• Liaising with the internal/external staff on a day by day basis to ensure quality and workmanship of every activities, thorough knowledge of all phases of engineering construction for production/fabrication.
• Assist with the implementation of a production planning process/procedure/software that will insure the above.
• Assist with the identification of customer’s requirements and the matching of products(s) to these requirements.
• Responsible for the design, and management of design, for multiple projects.
• Implementing a standardised system of design and design change to ensure a cohesive working methodology
• Providing time estimates for design work that will feed into costing and production budgets
• Travel to client/customer/supplier sites.
• Participate in the advancement of products through various types of accreditation required for sales into different markets.
• Any other duties required in line with the needs of the business


• A degree in mechanical, engineering product design, industrial design, engineering design and manufacture
• Knowledge/experience in engineering, manufacturing processes, and materials
• Knowledge or experience with electrical, hydraulic systems
• Excellent knowledge in Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Recent experience and knowledge with computer assisted design (CAD) software is required. Knowledge of PTC Creo software is of benefit but not essential.
• Valid drivers’ license
• Valid passport to travel through E.U. countries


• Rounded: design and project manage within a hands-on ‘design for manufacture’ role
• Meticulous: translate concepts into detail, and detail into physical product
• Process-oriented: Has worked in or understands to conduct drawing changes, so that production and design work seamlessly
• Collaborative: draws the team together to increase knowledge and expertise
