Description:

Our client is a leader in subsea technologies and development within the oil and gas industry. They are looking for a Project Manager to join their team in Aberdeen.

The Primary responsibility of this role is Project Managing all software applications for the product range through the management of External Subcontractors and internal department resource. All of the aforementioned including but not limited to the following:

Project management of R&D projects
Management of outsourced subcontractors, design partners and vendors
People management of less than 7 internal company staff
Designing all processes and methods to ensure delivery of software application projects; software applications are defined as visualisation and data communications applications in general.
Developing and procuring from the most appropriate sources, the technologies for delivering the above
Ensuring the appropriate resource is available either internally or externally to meet the software and firmware application requirements of the business
Managing the resources to meet the delivery of projects to the business within specification and fully FAT
Assisting the Customer Support Group with conducting SAT (site acceptance testing) on all products.
Ensure all projects have the necessary documentation
Providing focus and direction on new techniques and technologies in software applications for use by the business
Interpreting, implementing and project managing the requirements for product/service developments as defined by product managers, RDP Director and Senior Management
Defining the scope of work with external outsourced subcontractors, design partners and vendors to ensure that all work is delivered on time and within budget
Maintain the full range of existing and future software and firmware applications
Fulfilling any other reasonable activity as requested by the Research, Development and Production Director

The Project Manager (Software Applications) acts on behalf of the Research, Development and Production Director with responsibility for all aspects of software application projects. The Project Manager (Software Applications) will have responsibility for the financial budget, as set by the Research, Development and Production Director, associated with delivering both the mission and vision for the Research, Production and Development Group and will have authority, within approval limits, to incur necessary expenditure, in-line with this budget. The Project Manager (Software Applications) will have authority without recourse to others for making functional decisions, always within corporate policy and guidelines, to deliver the group's mission and vision.

Interpersonal skills:
Excellent interpersonal communications skills at all levels and very effective teaming skills

Project management and project oriented skills, possess experience of C++, C sharp and .NET

Candidates should have collaborative abilities in multi-disciplined teams. Candidates should have the ability to take work/tasks and projects to closure

Qualifications and Education
General Education:
Possess excellent analytical skills and be able to produce high-quality technical reports, procedures and other similar documentation
Specified Qualifications for position:
Qualification in a Software/Mathematical or Computing discipline required at B.Sc. level, M.Sc. preferred
Preferably have a PRINCE qualification; would be seen as an advantage
Continuing Professional Development:
Can articulate learning and training experiences

Experience
General Experience:
Candidates should have demonstrable experience within a similar role particularly in software based design. Ability to, and experience of, effectively managing subcontractors, design partners and vendors
Technical Experience:
Preferably have knowledge of Satellite Navigation (GPS, GLONASS). Candidates should have extensive experience in Project Management in developing real-time software applications
