Description:

Our client is an international Subsea contractor with its UK head office in Aberdeen.

In preparation for the commencement of substantial new projects during the Spring and Summer of 2010, the UK Engineering Group is now seeking to attract experienced candidates with Subsea commissioning and construction experience to increase our existing talent bank.

The roles advertised are technically and professionally challenging with a focus on bundles packages, Subsea pipelines, structures and manifolds. Based within the Central Engineering Department, reporting to the applicable discipline lead, you will work primarily within ‘projects' and in support of the Business Acquisition (BA) function as required. Our client guarantees that you will operate within a technical challenging environment in which you can develop your potential and explore / challenge the boundaries of conventional technology. This position is specialising in the Design and Analysis within the Pipelines group.

Key Attributes for the Position:

Extensive experience in subsea pipeline or bundle design including FEED and detailed design.
In-depth knowledge of various relevant design codes and specifications, eg ASME
Experience with recognised industry software packages and tools for pipeline and bundle design.
A positive attitude towards learning and keen interest in developing engineering experience in pipeline construction and installation.
Specific Roles and Responsibilities:

Lead and perform bundle design and engineering activities associated with pipeline bundle constrcution and installation during tendering and detailed design stage.
Provide leadership in planning, detailing and reviewing of technical documentation relating to bundle construction and installation.
Design and detailing in accordance with acknowledged industry Codes, Standards and Design Guides (eg DNV, BS, API); Client Specifications and Scopes of Work.
Review of design documentation including feasibility reports, detailed design reports, construction drawings, design specifications, material take-offs, weight control calculations, etc for bundle design.
Undertake responibility for production of deliverables, which may include engineering support to Drawing Office, design calculations, specifications, procedures, analysis, progress reports, bid evaluations, study reports and various 3-rd party submissions.
Manage interfaces with associated subsea related disciplines and understand the interfaces within a project environment.
Lead engineering assistance and support during mobilisations and occasional periods of offshore or site working in support of pipelay and trenching operations.
Manage technical engineering support to other departments within the Central Engineering Group, the Project Engineering Group and to colleagues in terms of training and mentoring.
Select proprietary software and develop in-house analysis and design tools.
Lead the technical aspects of events such as bid clarifications, kick-off meetings, HIRAs, design reviews, etc.
Ensure all relevant safety objectives and legal requirements are observed.
Personal Skills and Attributes:

Ability to lead and function within a design team and across multiple projects.
Independently evaluate, organise and prioritise work for self and others.
Ability to prioritise own workload, manage time accordingly and inform team members where constraints will affect a project in terms of programme or budget.
Demonstrable ability to work within time/budget constraints.
Manage interfaces within a project structure, including other disciplines, drawing office, document control, project management, client and suppliers.
Manage change control within own remit on a project. Inform team members where constraints will affect a project in terms of programme or budget.
Presents self in a professional manner appropriate to the role and possess excellent presentation and communication skills.
Experience and Qualifications:

Proven track record in performing bundle or pipeline design and relevant previous experience at an appropriate level.
University graduate in a relevant engineering discipline.
Chartered Engineer or working towards the status desirable.
Experience in supervising and mentoring junior engineers.

• Engineering experience within oil and gas preferably in the Subsea industry.
• Familiarity with recognised industry engineering software and working with Flexible Pipeline
• Ability to prioritise and organise work
