Description:

Our client is currently looking for a temporary Category Specialist, starting ASAP until approximately mid August 2018 to cover Maternity Leave.

The primary role of the Category Specialist is to deliver and retain value from group category management, leading functional capability and future business growth. Ability to identify areas of opportunity to Secure Cost Savings through, Alignment & Collaboration with other business units.

Working closely with the Head of Procurement and Supply Chain, the Category Specialist will be an analytical and strategic thinker supporting collaborative sourcing. The Category Specialist will be customer focused and responsive to business requirements, this role requires stakeholder engagement and development of a category plan template, with the ability to establish and communicate the vision and strategic direction for each category.

Key attributes of the role will require the Category Specialist to be delivery focused and time bound with a hands on approach, developing strategies for direct and indirect procurement activities through to implementation, demonstrating professional behaviours, promoting best practice and processes at all times.

DUTIES
Identification and negotiation of Savings / efficiency improvement opportunities through to strategic development, implementation and management of the project, using existing or new sources of supply.
Preparation and submission of cost reduction/efficiency opportunity business cases, including the supporting analytical data to enable effective decision making.
Development of the category plans and sourcing strategy, including partnering options where practical or applicable.
Retain records of cost saving initiatives and forecast through to actual achieved and record in the value plan.
To achieve the KPI’s set for the department
To complete major tasks and activities as stated. To devise tailored solutions to arising issues.

KEY SKILLS
Must possess excellent Microsoft Office skills including: Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and able to develop good relationships with people at all levels.
Able to multi-task and manage own time effectively.
Able to work under pressure, to set and achieve deadlines.
Demonstrate a flexible attitude towards all types of work (a positive 'can do' attitude)
Previous experience of Category management, particularly within Indirect.
Experience/exposure in using Kraljic Matrix, developing Supplier Referencing Matrix and Power-Dominance Model including Outsourcing Decision Matrix.
Analytical and strategic thinker with the ability to establish and communicate the vision and strategic direction for each category.

MUST HAVE contract and negotiation experience.

QUALIFICATIONS
Educated to degree level preferably in Law or Supply Chain Management of Equivalent (CIPS)
Advanced IT skills are essential within this role.

Hourly rate is £13 per hour, 40 hours week.
