Description:

Carlton Resource Solutions is currently seeking a Corporate Tax Advisor to join our clients Corporate Tax team in Aberdeen, due to the continuing success of the department and the practice. This is an outstanding opportunity for qualified ICAS / ATT / CTA candidates looking to progress their career in tax within an inspiring, fulfilling and sociable work environment.

Responsibilities:

• Experience of dealing with the tax compliance of corporate entities and/or groups
• Responsibility for own client portfolio which will allow for a variety of work including the
opportunity to be involved in specialist tax planning and advisory work
• Research and Development tax relief and patent box experience would be useful as would exposure to international tax matters and Owner Managed Business Tax planning, however experience in each of these areas is not vital
• Be proactive towards work by anticipating workflow in advance and keep subordinates/managers/partners informed of timings and progress of work
• Consistently brings technical work to successful conclusions, meeting agreed deadlines within time and budget
• Continue to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of professional practices, business procedures, the firm's methods and standards of work and the services offered by the firm
• Assist with training of junior staff on an ad hoc basis
• Ensure adequate work is available for staff and identify training needs as they arise
• Be actively involved in ensuring own technical development
• Develop client relationship to become the contact point for resolution of problems

Tasks:
• Start to develop expertise in a particular technical field
• Deal with all tax correspondence related to your clients and ensure client queries are dealt with
• Be more involved in the timing and managing of your clients and ensure that the list of tax handlers' responsibilities is being followed and achieved
• Use tax legislation to provide possible solutions to problems highlighted for managers
• Willingness to assist in non-compliance/advisory/special work, under supervision
• Communicates to managers or partners anything which is not understood or which is inconsistent with expectations and highlight any problems arising in relation to work, offering potential solutions to such issues.
• Viewed as a role model for staff and takes referrals/questions from staff on client matters
• Delegate work, as appropriate, to ensure subordinates are fully utilised
• Provide feedback on trainees to managers/partners for appraisals or as appropriate.
• Provide on the job training and participate in training sessions
• Show an active interest in the wider aspects of engagements and practice management
• Show commercial awareness, skill and initiative in handling complex technical problems and difficult engagements
• Ensure fees are prepared fees on a timely basis
