Digital Photography Competition –

Winners Announced

Carlton Resource Solutions Ltd is pleased to announce the winners of their Digital Photography Competition entitled "The North East's Natural Beauty". The theme of the competition encompassed anything from landscape shots to wildlife or the sky at night and we invited the residents of Aberdeenshire to send us photographs that encapsulated the natural beauty of their surroundings.

The competition was split into two age groups of 15 and under and 16 and over. The winners of each category were selected by Logan Sangster and his team at Deeside Photographics and by the management team at Carlton.


Under 15 Category

1st Place – Image 25 by Sandrine Neill - Reflections on the River Dee
Sandrine has won a New Digital Camera, donated by GM Events

2nd Place – Image 51 by Louise Jastrzebski – Banchory
Louise has won a Family Membership for the National Trust for Scotland, donated by GM Events


Congratulations to Sandrine and Louise.
A total of 20 images from this category will be showcased at Crathes Castle Restaurant.


16+ Category

1st Place – Image 2 - Tracey Guthrie - Sunset in Drumtochty Glen Tracey wins a Family meal at Milton Restaurant in Crathes and B&B at the Raemoir House Hotel

2nd Place – Image 19 - Ross Young - The Waters of Feugh Ross has won a £250 Family Portrait Experience, donated by Deeside Photographics

A total of 20 images from this category will be showcased at The Milton Gallery.


Daniel Hyland, Engineering Recruitment Team Lead at Carlton Resources, "We ran the photography competition in association with the Enchanted Castle and we received some fantastic entries in both of the categories. We are delighted to be showcasing the top 20 winning entries in The Milton Gallery at Crathes for the 16 yrs + competition and at the Crathes Castle restaurant for the 15 yrs and under competition. The photographs will be on show from Friday 18th November and we look forward to awarding the prizes to our winners at a presentation very soon."

Under 15 Category
1st Place: Sandrine Neill. "Again, a favourite from all the judges, a nice moody shot of our local river, nice light and reflection- taken at a good moment !"
2nd Place: Louise Jastrzebsia. "Beautiful light captured in this woodland shot- thought it suited the competition perfectly. Liked the colouring again."
16+ Category
1st Place: Tracy Guthrie - Drumtochty Glen. "this is a really nice atmospheric shot, with the low winter sun and reflection caught nicely- a keen favourite with us all, also liked the muted colouring in it."
2nd Place: Ross Young - Bridge of Feugh. "again, lovely shot, good use of slow exposure, with some digital enhancement used to create a really nice modern image of this well photographed bridge."
